Montessori Method

Certainly, many parents are worried about their children’s well being. Particularly, they would want to see the children excel in school. Focus is, therefore, given to the education methods in various schools. One of the most common methods is known as Montessori which is basically a child-centered method. Scientific observations are used to identify the need of every child. It values human spirit and thus views children as individuals who are willing and able to learn. A good learning environment is hence offered so that the child can learn effectively. In the end, the child is able to develop physically, socially, cognitively, and emotionally. As asserted in this essay, there are several things that are unique to the Montessori Method.

Unique Things Defining Montessori Method of Learning

Foremost, children are allowed to interact more freely in groups. They are free to interact spontaneously as compared to the traditional classrooms where specific times are set aside for such activities. The environment is so good that every child finds the confidence to interact with others. Secondly, children can be taught at a tender age. It is suggested that since every human, regardless of their age, has a quest to learn, very young children can be taught using different activities. Focus is given to sensory development to lay a foundation for the intellectual growth of the children in the future.

Thirdly, the students are free to make choices on what they want to learn and how they want to do it. The teacher’s role is to structure the classroom in a way that students can be free. More so, the child has the assurance that the environment will remain the same. It is argued that it is only in such an environment where students can maximize their potential because they can explore fields that they find interesting. This is opposed to the traditional classroom where teachers keep changing the environment and are responsible for coming up with the topics to learn in different days of the week. The student therefore has little freedom in the classroom.

Unique Achievements by the Students

After going through the Montessori schools, children do not only perform well in their exams, but they are more prepared to cope with life’s challenges and develop independence at the work place. They also have more self-discipline as opposed to the students coming from the public schools. Indeed, the Montessori Method is unique and effective in the education system.
