As humans it is one’s responsibility to ensure they are protecting not just mankind but also every living creature on earth. There are little things people can do in their lives to ensure they are contributing to the maintenance of ocean and sea cleanliness. Following are some of the things you can start either at home or in your community:
- The very first thing that needs to be done is to educate people. This is called an awareness campaign. It is true that almost everyone in this world is aware of what the hazards are and how they affect the ocean creatures, not all of them understand the intensity of these effects. You can easily start a campaign with a lot of images to make people aware of the ways their decision impact the lives of those who cannot speak for themselves.
- You can start to make little changes in your house. A lot of people claim that if the market they are shopping from gives out the groceries in their plastic bags, there is not much they can do about it. They can. There are a lot of places out there that give out groceries in paper bags, prefer those over stores that are not taking this option up. Not only will this be a wakeup call for them when their sales drop, your action might also come off as a boycott method and help them make the decision quickly.
- Another thing you can do is go and ensure your beaches are clean. People love to go and benefit from the bright sun on the beach, but when they eat whatever they do when there they often throw the packets there on the beach. This in turn flows into the ocean and begins to damage the creatures that rely on the fresh flowing water for their survival.
Keeping the ocean clean is not just the responsibility of the government. It is every man’s responsibility.
